After more than 20 years on the run, an "America's Most Wanted" fugitive who disappeared in the middle of his sexual assault trial stood before a Rhode Island judge this week under his real name for the first time since fleeing justice. Ronald Fischer, 70, identified himself by his real name during a hearing in Newport Superior Court, where a judge canceled an outstanding warrant tied to his alleged failure to appear for trial in April 2005, arraigned him on a bail-jumping charge and set bail at $20,000 surety. Never made a hole in one. Didn't go to Q School because him mom got sick and he had to move home to take care of her. Met my mom and the rest is history. Played very regularly, ran the company tournaments and the local retirees group. Everyone wanted dad on their team. To his dismay I never was attracted to the sport.

My son had two large blisters, one on each hand the size of Morgan silver dollars, first day of training doing bear crawls around the pool deck. Chief saw them and said "maybe we've done enough of those today." SOBW still told me "I'm having the most fun I've ever had" after that. He worked hard to earn that anchor and globe, and nobody can take that away from him now. Celebrations can come later, but that is forever a part of him now. He'll be a different man the next time you see him. You should be proud that you helped mold him into what he is today. We've wondered where the ginger came from. Funny story, we were in the delivery room waiting for SOBW to show up and it's the day before St. Paddy's. I joked "wouldn't it be funny if he came out a redhead?" Proof that God has a sense of humor.

Oh, what do I want to drink?

Showed up my freshman year and when walking out the door to Washington Street while moving in, bumped into a young lady doing the same, almost knocked her down. Helped her move in and we've been together for 35 years now.

They shipped the evolution out to 2 exits past BFE yesterday for training at another base. 6 hour van ride with instructors and his teammates. Got there and immediately found a pool to start "beating" (i.e. training) on them again. An hour in they said if anyone could beat the new instructor in a swimming race, the day's training would be over. SOBW was "volunteered" by the team. Little did they know that he swam competitively through high school at state level and almost national level. Needless to say, they kicked off early yesterday. I told him to enjoy his last meal, because tomorrow they were going to beat them into the ground for showing up the instructor. His response was that hibachi wasn't a bad last meal. Also, all his drinks were on his teammates last night. Fortunately, he had been keyed in that the team should take an "offering" to the instructor. He went over to the instructor's quarters last night bearing gifts of a bottle of Woodford Reserve and a 30-pack of some barley pop. All was forgiven. At least he paid heed to my teaching that "Life's too short to drink bad liquor" and bought a decent bottle. My son has better than 20/10 vision and I strongly encouraged him to go aviation, but he wouldn't have it. Wants to be down on the ground with the snakes and the bugs. Best of luck to him.

They aren’t going to throw away a career for a medical. My sons unit has a candidate who was medically removed (typhus, don’t ask) the previous evolution but given another shot at it with my son’s evolution. I believe most units don’t want to dismiss anyone but want to tip you enough over the edge for you to know it’s not for you or give you that motivation to scramble back up over the cliff and take it to the next level. Sometimes that tip is a more of a shove, but that’s where they want the leaders to come from. While I have faith my son will place well, they started with 18 and down to 9 for a 4 week program. And only 5 spots. I’m taking the position that the branch will put him where he’s most needed, whether he wants to be the or not. And that’s what’s best for the unit. Best of luck to your son, and lots of bourbon will help you between now and Saturday.

SOBW is doing his summer duty for ROTC. He's learning fast rope today and sent the family a video of it. All I could say about it was "Smooooth". You could hear someone, who I assume was the instructor, say "Nice!" at the end. He sent me a separate text with the following: Chief: watching me rappel - "Who the eff is that?" Classmate: "(SOBW-LAST NAME REDACTED), Chief" Chief: "Of course it is..." Talked to him last week after completing his first week and he said "Dad, I'm having the best time of my life!" I couldn't be prouder of that young man! He will indeed be an asset to this nation's armed services.

They do things differently out in the Oil Patch. Friend works out there and frequently drives that stretch going from well head to well head doing maintenance. Really good gig, he'll be retired at 50.

I'm cheap. I'll find a way around a toll. Just not viable this time, have to go almost Wilmington and come back down to avoid the toll. adding +2 hours.

Does it take VA EZPass or only Maryland. Looks like it takes both but you have to pay a higher toll for out-of-state EZPass. I'd prefer not to have it toll-by-plate as I'm driving a church van full of scouts to summer camp and we have to go over the bridge to get to our destination. Don't want them to get stuck with the bill and likely miss it in the mail then get the plates suspended.

If you are only considering Boy Scouts. Now you have the campers as well. I've had to shoo off boys and girls alike looking for extracurricular activities. Honestly, it hasn't been quite as bad as I thought it would be, but there have definitely been some issues and challenges having both M/F

Just wondering if I can get them to make one out of PVC for cheaper. They could also make the bolos with paracord and tie a monkey fist for each end.

What games do you have or have seen that are popular with older teens and young adults? Looking for some new games for my Scouts (so no heavy drinking, blow or hookers) for summer camp. Have Kanjam, Spikeball and cornhole boards, just looking for something new for them to kill time between sessions and not be on their phones. Speaking of, prayers would be appreciated. I've talked to the parents and all of the scouts are going to be handing in their phones to me when we get to camp. Unplugged for almost an entire week. I expect there to be talk of potential mutiny by lunch on Monday.

We were on Conduit heading South, first in line at the light. Turned green and started through the intersection and the light turned yellow when we were halfway through.

Only thing I could find for MM was Machinist Mate, and he's not going an engineering route. All he's really indicated is that there's a lot of PT and running and physical fitness evaluation, very similar to BUDS but not BUDS. His goal is to get into the EOD program after graduation, apparently it is almost as competitive as BUDS in terms of officer selection and these weeks are to help determine qualification for that.

EOD training, or qualifying, or whatever it is. As I understand it this is a qualification for consideration into acceptance for that billet. It's his junior year (just finished), so next year he's going to be graduating and getting his orders.

Face down, on the beach... His last assignment was out there, and the vessel they were to be on was having mechanical issues, so they essentially got a weeks vacay courtesy of their Uncle before having to board. He had a great time, and his training was very enlightening as well. This time, not so much. More meat grinder than pleasure cruise this time.

ROTC demands he do 3 weeks duty/training, shame it's in San Diego. Otherwise he hit it pretty hard this year, excellent grades and really gotten into running and conditioning for after graduation. He's gotten into LONG distance running (greater that 26.2) and loves it (I question his sanity, my sticker reads 0.0). He's hoping for a very competitive billet, so he's doing extra to get to that top form needed for the assignment. I'd love for him to sit on the couch and be a sloth for a few days, outside his fitness regime he's camping and hiking with friends.

Was sitting on the john contemplating the universe when something triggered his spidey senses. Looked at the toilet paper roll and pulled it down a couple of squares and resting on the backside (now the topside) was a bark scorpion. Think this was in the seventies. The number of injuries and a few of fatalities prompted a resolution by the city council to close the area to swimming. A number of surfers who surfed the break argued in front of council that closing the break would reduce tourism and would not likely deter hardcore surfers, creating a nuisance enforcement issue. Ultimately the board decided not to close the break. I tried to find the exact time this was proposed, but all that would come up is the fact that they have closed the beach today through this afternoon because of the dangerous surf with waves reaching 20ft.
